Everybody loves a "Before & After"... right?
Here's a great little example of how a bit of lateral thinking worked a treat in neatening up this weathered old area of paving as well as avoiding some serious, and probably quite painful, root adjustment on a lovely big mulberry tree. Rather than shaving, or completely removing, the problem roots (which is not only quite tough on the tree physiologically, but can also effect its stability) we decided to adjust and repair an existing garden wall then use it to lift the level of the paving in the affected area. The outcome: A neat, functional paving space, 2 defined garden beds and a clear pathway under those low hanging mulberry branches!

Business Cards!
Hello, 2012! and what better way to kick it all off than with my first run of business cards! Done dirt cheap and home designed, but should tide me over for a few months at least! And for that green edge; 100% recycled paper!... Now to get them circulatin'... "Here's my card!.." SLAM!
Kartoffelgarten
A few old tree trunks, a couple o bricks, some fencing wire, a few barrows of nice loose mulch with a handful o goodies mixed through and a bag full of slightly pongy but nicely sprouting old spuds from the pantry and we have ourselves a great little potato patch (or kartoffelgarten in German). This set up for potato cultivation is known as a container garden and uses what is called the heaping method (which is why the soil bed appears to be quite low in the structure at this point) where fresh, loose mulch/soil mix is piled around the growing potato plants at 3-5 week intervals over the course of their cycle. This lengthens the main stem of the plant and in-turn yields more produce, which means i'll be the guy with the potato salad at the barbie this summer. YUM!
